EYFS Starter Information - Sept 2025
We look forward to welcoming our new pupils to Purley CofE Primary School.
For those starting in Foundation Stage class in September 2025, we will use this page to share lots of useful information and keep you updated with the schedule of transition events throughout the summer term.
Although parents are informed of their child's allocated school by West Berkshire Borough Council on 'National Offer Day' on Wednesday 16th April 2025, please remember that our school will not receive the final admission list until mid-late May 2025. This is to allow time for parents to accept school places and for appeals to be heard.
Therefore, please do not worry if you do not hear from us until mid-late May. We are unable to contact parents until we receive the official admission list.

School Lunches
The Pantry is our school lunch provider.
Lunches are taken in the school hall between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Children may bring in a packed lunch from home or order a healthy school lunch with a choice of a meat-based meal, a vegetarian meal, a jacket potato with a choice of toppings and a sandwich option. Menus are updated half-yearly and published on the school website. Special diets and allergies/intolerances are catered for.
All children in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 are offered a school meal free of charge as part of the Government's 'Universal Infant Free School Meal' scheme.
Parents / carers will need to order their child's lunch by 9am via The Pantry website: https://www.thepantrycatering.co.uk/
School Uniform
Our school uniform supplier is Smart Impressions. Please visit the School Uniform page for more information.
The School Day
The doors open at 8.40 a.m. All children need to be in their classes ready to learn by 8.50 a.m. every day. Foundation children enter the school using the Foundation Stage entrance at the front of the school.
School finishes at 3.20 p.m. Parents wait in the playground and the teachers bring their classes out. Foundation Stage children should be collected from the Foundation Stage entrance at the front of the school.
Wraparound Care
We currently have an on-site breakfast club and after school club.
Early Birds Breakfast Club:
The club is open from 8 a.m to 8.50 a.m, Monday to Friday (term time only). All breakfast club members must arrive between 8.00 a.m – 8.30 a.m; this is when breakfast is being served. The cost is £5 per session and all sessions must be booked in advance. To reserve spaces at breakfast club, we use an online booking system – Childcare Online Booking (CoB)
https://purley.childcare-online-booking.co.uk/
In2Care After School Club
The club is open from 3:20pm to 6pm Monday to Friday (term time only). Bookings can be made directly via their website https://www.in-2-care.com/
School Communications
The school uses ParentMail for communication to the whole school community. This system enables the school to send out emails/letters/forms electronically. Newsletters will also be sent using this system. Parentmail also includes a texting facility which will be used for last minute communication. You will automatically get registered for Parentmail when your child starts school in September.
Pupil Premium
Even though all 4-7 year olds have been receiving free school meals for a few years, if you are in receipt of certain benefits, your child may qualify for extra funding. This would enable the school to receive funding to support your child’s learning and can also go towards school uniform and school trips. Checking availability is very straight forward, you can simply go to the West Berkshire dedicated web page www.westberks.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals or call them 01635 503622. If you need support with this, please contact the school office.
To help your child prepare for school, West Berkshire Council has the following information available:
