ELSA - Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
ELSA – Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
Purley Primary School has two ELSAs providing support. Mrs Ham is our Early Years ELSA and Mrs Smith provides ELSA support for the rest of the school.
Our ELSAs aim to provide a nurturing environment where children can develop the emotional literacy skills they need.
An ELSA helps children understand and manage their emotions, build resilience and improve their interpersonal skills. ELSA empowers children to thrive both emotionally and socially, laying a foundation for their future wellbeing.
The ELSA will help your child to find solutions to problems they may have. Working together during sessions to help with:
- Emotional Literacy
- Self Esteem
- Friendship Issues
- Relationships
- Managing Strong Feelings
- Loss and Bereavement
- Anxiety
- Bullying
- Conflict
ELSA support can be a one to one intervention but it can also be with a small group. Sessions would run weekly for approx 6-8 weeks.
